The High Tension Lead carries the high-voltage pulse from the spark-generating equipment to the spark plug on the Portek Scatterbird MK4. It is an essential link in the ignition circuit, despite being a simple length of insulated cable. Damage to the insulation or either end connection can prevent a dependable spark.

Portek identifies the lead as Item No. 15 in the exploded image and lists it under Part No. 033/19.
